Association for Feminist Anthropology Senior Book Prize

The Association for Feminist Anthropology (AFA) is pleased to invite nominations for the Association’s new Senior Book Prize. The prize awards a senior scholar for a book that advances the theory, method, and epistemological scope of feminist anthropology. The Senior Book Prize recognizes second (or subsequent) books that exemplify feminist anthropological theory and anthropology and that help to move the field in bold new directions. Edited volumes will not be considered. The prize is open to feminist scholarship in all subfields of anthropology.

Criteria

Submissions must be 1) beyond the first book, 2) published in 2015, 2016, or 2017, and 3) must be published in English.

Please send a signed letter of nomination specifying how the book meets the criteria to the chair of the prize committee by May 1, 2018. Self-nominations and nominations from presses are not eligible. Authors must be members of the AAA and AFA to receive the award. The nomination letter may be sent by e-mail to the committee chair ([email protected]) or postal service (see below).  Books submitted without an accompanying letter of nomination cannot be considered.

In addition to the letter, please arrange to have the publisher send a copy of the book directly to each member of the Selection Committee at the following addresses (below). The committee must receive both the letter of nomination and books by May 1, 2018.
