These are photos from fieldwork with the “cholitas luchadoras” of¬†La Paz, Bolivia, looking at struggles over¬†authenticity, legitimacy, and cosmopolitanism within lucha libre wrestling. While these female wrestlers have become a tourist attraction, many men in the sport resent their popularity, seeing them as part of a cheap gimmick rather than representing serious wrestling.
